Carole brings decades of experience to her practice.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, a Master of Business Administration, and Doctor of Jurisprudence. Prior to practicing law, I worked for seven years as a semiconductor engineer for Advanced Micro Devices. I graduated cum laude from the University of Houston Law School in 2005, where I was a member of the Order of the Barons and Order of the Barristers, U of H’s two legal honor societies.
Following law school, I served as a Briefing Attorney for Judge Cathy Cochran with the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the state’s highest criminal court. I then served for four years as an Assistant Attorney General, where I successfully briefed and argued several cases before the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. I also defended numerous criminal convictions in federal and state court, including the 1995 conviction of Yolanda Saldivar for the infamous murder of Latina superstar, Selena.
In 2011, I opened Carole Callaghan Law focusing on estate planning and probate for individuals, families, and same sex couples. In Texas, I regularly presented courses to both attorneys and lay persons on various estate planning issues. I also assisted Texas school districts through amicus briefing for the Texas Association of School Boards and represented indigent criminal clients in state trial and appellate courts.
I currently live in the foothills area, where I am an active volunteer in my community. I have served as the President of Ovation West Performing Arts om Evergreen, the President of the Evergreen High School PTSA, the President of the EHS Choir Boosters, and the Graphis and Advertising Committee chair for EHS's theater program. I also regularly volunteer with Metro Volunteer Legal Services, providing assistance to low-income families in need.
After taking time to get to know my Colorado community (and get my kiddos off to college...Sko Buffs!), I am thrilled to have re-opened Carole Callaghan Law in the foothills area. I have a real passion for helping people achieve the peace of mind that comes from knowing their loved ones will be protected when they pass away.

I have decades of legal experience, but that doesn't mean I upsell my clients into high-dollar estate plans. Instead, I take the time to talk to my clients about their situations, learning what they would like and why they are interested in setting up or modifying their estate plan. I then work with them to create a plan that makes sense for their wants, needs, and financial situation. Most of the time, that means setting them up with a basic will-based estate plan. But if they have a more complex estate, we will create a trust-based plan to ensure their needs are met, whatever they may be. Regardless, I will be up front and honest about what to expect, both in how documents work, and what it will costs to have them drafted.
I also take the time to make sure they understand how their documents should work for them. We review all of their documents in detail before they sign them, and I send them home with a letter, summarizing each document, so they always have something to refer to if they have questions down the road. And if they still have questions, I'm always just a phone call or email away. An estate plan only works if you know how to use it, so I take pride in making sure my clients are educated on using their documents to help them and their loved ones.
If you would like to learn more about estate planning, please feel free to reach out to me for a free consultation. We can chat about the particulars of your situation and I will let you know what estate documents you need, and how much your plan will cost.
